We are invited by John the Baptist to ‘Behold, the Lamb of God!’ This is a most remarkable statement. The theme of the Lamb fills the volume of the Scripture from beginning to end. The Lamb was foreknown before the foundation of the world. And the Lamb is the light of the new heavens and new earth. Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. But more than this, He is the Lamb who gives us the life of new creation. Jesus beckons all believers to follow Him to the springs of the water of life. The Lamb is the Shepherd who leads us all the way into the new heavens and new earth where the water of life runs freely from His throne forever.
